Background

Japanese Red's Pikachu 270/SM-P is a 2018 holofoil SM-P promo built around Trainer Red and his Pikachu, issued for the Pokémon Center 20th Anniversary Campaign. It stayed Japan-only; no English print followed.

Ken Sugimori drew the pair. On the card it is a Basic Lightning Pokémon with 70 HP. Volt Tackle deals 100 and 30 to itself, the same self-cost the move has in the games. The Pokédex line is taken from Pokémon Moon.

Distribution was a purchase-with-purchase offer at Pokémon Centers, with the card-specific date commonly given as 25 August 2018. That narrow channel, plus the Red-and-Pikachu subject, is why the print still sits in promo binders rather than as a bulk SM-P leftover.
